Just when we thought romance was dead, a young woman's public appeal has given hope to singles everywhere.
While the smartphone app Tinder seems to be dominating the dating world, a love-struck woman has used the old-fashioned way by making a hand-made poster in a bid to find the mystery man who caught her eyes at a beach in Picton on Friday.
The unnamed smitten woman has taken the cliche to heart after exchanging glances and a smile with the man who was playing with his dog on a beach in Picton.
Along with her heart-warming message, she drew a picture of the shirtless man, wearing black shorts with "stars tattooed" on his torso and his "curly, bouncy and blonde" dog running beside him.
"I was sitting on the grass on Friday watching the sea... you were playing with your dog. You ran past me and smiled.
"Would you like to go for a drink/coffee/walk??? I'm in Wellington just now, my ferry arrives back in Picton on Tuesday 3rd.
"I'm in town for 1 night only... But let's see how things go... On the off-chance you are single, remember who I am and would like to meet for a drink/coffee/walk.
"I'll be sitting on the grass, watching the sea from 1-1.30pm onwards on Tuesday... Maybe you'll run past again?!?"
Behind the love note, the mysterious brunette has also pleaded with the public to not have the sign removed from the premises.
"In the spirit of happy endings, give this sign a chance to be seen by the right eyes," she penned.
"It may even bring a dozen or so people back on Tuesday, intrigued... who is this girl with the long brown hair and the boy with the star tattoos and the dog and will they meet for a drink?
"I will, on my return to Picton on Tuesday, remove it myself... Whatever the ending may be. Thank you!"
The real-life fairy-tale has left the whole town talking with locals questioning who the woman is and whether the man is single to make a special appearance on Tuesday.
And in a fateful twist, the mystery man has revealed himself on social media on Sunday morning.
"Yeah, thats me. Haha I too am looking forward to Tuesday," Will Scott Chalmers posted on Facebook
The signs were posted on Beachcomber Fun Cruises Facebook page on Saturday and has sparked an online debate with everyone wanting to know the ending to the love story.
