Superyachts built by McMullen and Wing, Fitzroy Yachts and Alloy Yachts have been recognised in two separate award ceremonies in Florida and one in Milan.
At the International Superyacht Society's Design and Leadership Awards Gala in Fort Lauderdale on October 27, McMullen and Wing's Big Fish won the 2011 ISS Design Award for the best motor yacht in the 40-65m category. The 45m Big Fish is a long-range expedition vessel designed for fishing and cruising in remote parts of the world.
It features five staterooms, a jacuzzi and gym, as well as a custom-built tender that boasts a cruising range of 300 nautical miles.
Big Fish also won the motor yacht naval architecture award for its designer, Gregory C. Marshall Naval Architects, at the 2011 ShowBoats Design Awards in Palm Beach on October 26.
SY Zefira, built in New Plymouth by Fitzroy Yachts, won the best crew and service areas and best exterior design and styling awards at the ShowBoats Design Awards. Zefira also won the 2011 Nautical Design Awards' Innovation Award at a separate ceremony in Milan.
SY Kokomo, built in the Henderson yard of Alloy Yachts, won the Naval Architecture Award: Sailing Yachts for its designer, Dubois Naval Architects.
