Kiwi experience ends as Zoe flies home tomorrow

A blossoming TV and radio career isn't the only good thing Zoe Marshall will leave behind when she boards a plane to Australia tomorrow.

The wife of departing Blues league import Benji Marshall is also quitting the $1.4 million Ponsonby townhouse the couple bought less than three months ago.

With her husband chasing a rugby league contract in Australia, she has been busy packing up their belongings in preparation for a the return to Australia.

She was also spotted stocking up on champagne at her local bottle store in Herne Bay before her final show on radio station ZM.

"It has been the most incredible experience [at ZM] and they are so supportive," she told the Herald on Sunday. "I think this will be a relationship that's going to continue - I'm not sure in what capacity, but the door is still open."

She said the couple had not yet decided whether to sell their secluded Ponsonby home, which had become a sanctuary away from her husband's sporting malaise.

The couple, both 29, enjoyed the quiet of their 517sq m Kelmarna Ave property, hidden from public view by a large, manicured hedge and latticed windows.

The four-bedroom town house has been extensively refurbished since it was built in the 1920s, including the addition of an ensuite, walk-in wardrobe and private balcony off the master bedroom, and an open plan kitchen and living area that opens on to a courtyard.

The future remained uncertain - her husband had received "heaps" of interest from Australian sports franchises, but she did not know his plans.

"I'm here and he's over there, we are living quite busy lives. I'm waiting with bated breath to find out where I'm moving to."

Her career hit heights her husband could only dream of during her short stay in New Zealand, being named host of TV3 cooking show The Great Food Race.

The Radio Network, parent of ZM, and TV3 said they would work with Marshall again.

Australian media reported on Friday that Benji Marshall was close to making a decision between St George Illawarra and Cronulla as his new NRL club. The woman he married 16 months ago said she did not mind where they lived. "I wasn't sure last time and that worked out well."
