Two crew members working on King Kong at Peter Jackson's Miramar studios were injured and taken to Wellington Hospital yesterday.
Film spokeswoman Melissa Booth said one man was kept overnight for observation and was expected to be discharged from hospital today. Another man was discharged after being treated for minor injuries.
Ms Booth said the $200 million production was working with Occupational Safety and Health to determine what caused the accident.
Neither the film-makers nor OSH could give any further details about the accident until OSH's investigation was completed.
An OSH spokesman said two inspectors were sent to the scene of the accident at Jackson's Stone Street Studio after the men were taken to hospital by ambulance about noon today.
Ms Booth said Jackson and King Kong's cast and crew "wish their colleagues a speedy recovery and look forward to their return".
The accident was the second on a New Zealand film set this week. On Monday a 45-year-old man was flown to Wanganui Hospital after being injured on a set for River Queen near Raetihi.
The man suffered back injuries when a horse he was holding unexpectedly pulled away.
