Kidman honoured by UN fund

Actress Nicole Kidman is to be a goodwill ambassador of the United Nations Development Fund for Women (Unifem).

She will work with Unifem to advance women's rights and gender equality, with a special focus on issues such as violence against women.

The news came as she was awarded an Australia Day honour for her contribution to the arts and her charity work.


Kidman was also honoured for her dedication to health care through contributions to improve medical treatment for women and children and advocacy for cancer research.
