The big chill has Kasey and Karena pondering their favourite ‘warm me up’ dishes.
It is easy to dislike this time of year, with its road closures, flight delays and frosts killing the nasturtium garnish.
As we flew into Gisborne last week, the lady next to us pointed out that it was the first time in 20 years she had seen snow on the hills there. It is harder to get out of bed and out of the house but it isn't all bad.
It has definitely been cold, and driving to work in the morning we see people with their jugs of water defrosting their windscreens, but the air seems cleaner and there is beauty in the white exhalations of people walking the streets. There really is nothing like warming the stomach and the soul with something home-made, especially when it is so cold out.
