There are still a few balmy evenings left to fit in final barbecues as autumn creeps in.
We have been overseas most of this year and have pretty much missed an epic summer here in New Zealand.
When we come back we try our best to soak up lots of vitamin D and spend as much time cooking outside as we can. Although our family has had their fill of sun-filled afternoons and lighting up the barbie, we are still hanging on to the last few warm evenings.
Some kind of alchemy happens when the evening is calm, the fire under the grill is flickering up to singe the meat and you have a warm jersey on standby for when the inevitable chill hits as the sun slowly disappears behind the hills.
