We have spent a fair bit of time in popular tourist destination Bali but this was our first time visiting the more metropolitan part of Indonesia, its capital, Jakarta.
It is a busy and bustling city with an interesting mix of both modern and traditional lifestyles.
The shopping is also awesome, with great markets and high-end shops. There are also some amazing five-star restaurants - or just outside the door you can find traditional and budget-friendly street food.
We also had one of the best burgers we have ever eaten, at Bluegrass restaurant - another surprising discovery amid all the amazing traditional food we tried.
The traffic is crazy and what is usually a 10-minute drive can end up taking more than an hour at peak times, so if you're visiting Jakarta, make sure you leave plenty of time to get around.
