Episode six: China
Shanghai is a vibrant city - so full of people, it would be difficult to find a street in Shanghai without anybody on it. We loved walking down the narrow alleyways and feasting on delicious street food, made right in front of us and incredibly cheap. You can buy bowls of freshly made dumplings for less than $2, but there are also exclusive dining experiences in restaurants that seat only 10 people. (Of course these come with a far heftier price tag.)
Shanghai is an interesting mix of traditional charm and cutting-edge modernity. We enjoyed exploring the old town, trying the traditional fare. We headed to the Bund as the sun began to set and sat in one of the rooftop bars to watch the city light up and take in views of the beautiful skyline.
There is so much to see and do in Shanghai, so our recommendation is to make sure you have plenty of time to explore all the different aspects of this wonderful city.
Karena & Kasey's Kitchen Diplomacy continues tonight, TV One, 8pm.
