Not even an attention-grabbing and boyfriend-snatching Vanity Fair teen queen covergirl can save this flat and pointless romantic comedy.
That's a shame because Lindsay Lohan can do comedy well and she's charming and likeable on screen.
Even her younger fans will pick that this fantasy flick offers little for her to work with.
But at least she comes off better than co-star Christopher Pine, whose useless-jerk-becomes-cool-guy routine is plain annoying.
The plot is predictable and shallow and the story as fake as Lohan's orange tan.
It's set in New York, where Ashley Albright (Lohan), who lives a super-charmed life, kisses down-on-his-luck Jake (Pine) at a party. Their luck switches.
Through the first half of the film we have to endure Jake's tripping up, splitting his pants, getting splashed by a passing cabs and so on. Once their luck has switched, we have to watch Ashley repeat the same gags as she tries to get back her life - and luck.
There is supposedly some meaning in all this - perhaps that luck isn't all that matters in life.
No wonder Trelise Cooper was excited at seeing one of her coats in this film - it's one of the best things in it.
