David (Mark Ruffalo) moves into the San Francisco apartment vacated by Elizabeth (Reese Witherspoon), a young, single ER doctor. David was a landscape gardener until his wife died suddenly two years ago. He hangs around the couch and drinks too much.

He's surprised when Elizabeth returns to "her" apartment and tells him to stop making a mess because she is dead. David consults a psychic, holds an exorcism and calls in Asian ghostbusters. Problem is, David and Elizabeth are falling in love.

Sweet rom-com with a twist, and a DVD that includes a reasonable roster of extras, from a 15-minute Making Of, an alternative ending and four deleted scenes, a lightweight gag reel and dreary director's commentary.
