FIONA HAWTIN knows just who she would choose to sit beside for the big week
The front row of a fashion show is reserved for fashion's inner sanctum. And celebrities - preferably A-list. The more a designer gets to show, the more important they must be. Some A-listers won't go to a show if they're not guaranteed a front-row spot. It's a question of status. Which started us thinking. If we were lining up the dream team of celebrity fashion front-rowers we would want to see:
Isabella Blow
Not only is this style icon a bona fide English eccentric, she's totally committed to fashion. Such is her dedication that she's not often seen without some of milliner Philip Treacy's most outrageous headwear. Only diehards would wear crystal-encrusted lobster numbers, or hats so wide that getting through doors is a mission. Ideally, you'd want to sit across from her rather than behind, unless all you wanted to see was an eyeful of Treacy's best work.
Anna Wintour
Get her to your show and you must be doing something right. The American Vogue editor - known to many as "Nuclear Wintour" - can make or break a trend at the snap of her perfectly manicured fingernails. And we'd like to see if the woman whose sunglasses probably need to be surgically removed, is indeed fashion's answer to the Ice Queen.
Paris Hilton
She needs to be in the front row as well, preferably next to Wintour. The socialite heiress actress-singer, who has just published her book Confessions of an Heiress, finds it hard not to misbehave for any length of time and we want to witness some of her pranks.
Bjork
The Icelandic singer is a front-row definite, just because we want to see what she'd wear. She's certainly worn some get-ups in her time but we'd like to think she could outdo the swan dress, with swan-egg accessory, she wore to the 2001 Academy Awards. An equally momentous fashion moment is just what our Fashion Week needs. We could talk about it for years.
Carrie Bradshaw
We would love to sit next to the Sex and the City star. We'd like to be her friend because her Manhattan coterie always have the most fun. Maybe she'd let us in on how exactly it is that she manages to buy so many Blahniks while doing so little work.
Jude Law
We nominate Law because there needs to be a front-row diversion for when we're just a little bit frocked-out. But he'd have to leave girlfriend Sienna Miller at home.
Nicole Kidman
Because she's Nicole Kidman. Because she's everybody's favourite clothes-horse although she has an allegiance with the house of C. Karl Lagerfeld, who just named her as his source of inspiration for the latest Chanel collection unveiled at Paris Fashion Week. And what a chance to see if she really is as beautiful in real life.
