A Motueka horseman is seeking compensation for the injuries his horses allegedly suffered during filming of The Lord of the Rings.
Rand Colgan, also known as Harmony Aquarian, is taking director Peter Jackson's production company, Three Foot Six, to a disputes tribunal hearing in the Nelson District Court today.
His action, which has a maximum settlement of $7500, alleges "dangerously substandard" working conditions for the horses he provided for the South Island filming, particularly near Twizel.
But he said he might drop the case if Jackson fronted up.
