(Def Jam)
Review: Russell Baillie
Janet Jackson's in the film which starts today and she's got the unremarkable lead track Doesn't Really Matter.
The rest is a typical hip-hop R'n'B movie tie-in affair that's impressive for its names, if not for their contributions.
Among them, Foxy Brown (Janet's own bad alter ego?) turns up on a quirky, uncensored remix of Sisqo's Thong Song; the likes of Brian McKnight and Montell Jordan contribute some teeth-rotting ballads; R'n'B superproducer Rodney Jerkins clones himself another Destiny's Child in Shorty 101; and a duetting Eminem and Redman support the film's gross-out humour in their own trademark way on Off the Wall.
We should at least be grateful that Eddie Murpy who, after playing six roles in the film, fought the temptation to also revive his awful musical career here.
