Profiler Dr Tony Hill has retired from the business. Then he gets a call from his former partner, DCI Carol Jordan, who wants his help with an undercover project.

Jordan is being set up. She is a dead-ringer for the dead girlfriend of Tadeusz Radecki, a crime boss whose people-smuggling ring InterPol is desperate to break. Her role is to turn up in Berlin with a proposition to take over Radecki's East End operation now that his man in Britain has been murdered. Throw in some motivations linked to medical experiments carried out by the Nazis and you have a ripping yarn with some highly precarious plot twists, and some highly unbelievable outcomes.
