While winning the prize for naffest local liner notes in quite an age, this album from the trio who seem something of a live institution in Wellington is well named for its collection of instrumental jazz-reggae grooves.
Powered by low-ridin' drums, delicate and deft Hammond organ, asthmatic saxophone and flute, the 11 tracks never threaten to do anything but percolate away in the background. There are some fine tunes — especially the slow-skanking Liquidating Assets, the tribute-paying Booker T, and the title track which suggests Dave Brubeck lost in Cuba St on a very nice day. A feelgood, switch-off sort of affair and a fine example of windy city downbeat-nik.
