We came here because Triniti has changed owners since we last brunched here. Had it lost its laid-back character, we wondered?
Parking was as awkward as you'd expect at the junction of two main roads.
We walked in and immediately thought we needn't have worried. Triniti has the same odd shape (befitting its origins as a 1970s post office), the same slightly hippie-ish feel and a menu full of organic food. The only thing missing was the friendly gent with the long, silver hair who was a fixture of the place under the old management.
The most unusual thing on the menu was not any one thing, but the range of organic, free-range and all-round ethical fare.
We ordered the Triniti works (bacon, breakfast sausages, herb-oil hash browns and free-range eggs, $19.50) and the vegetarian works (baked beans, grilled tomato halves, field mushrooms, herb-oil hash browns, and eggs, also $19.50). Both breakfasts were generous and well prepared, and the oven-roasted mushrooms I chose to accompany my Triniti works were especially good.
The service was quick and friendly. The woman behind the counter was warm and efficient as we tinkered at least three times with the standard menu, and the food arrived just as we'd ordered.
The coffee was good but a little weak. That could have been our Saturday morning heads talking, mind you.
We recommend if you come here you keep your eyes peeled for a table inside. The outside seating is warm enough, but you'll miss some of the colour.
Overall we thought Triniti is as good as ever. At almost $20 a breakfast it's certainly not cheap, but perhaps that's the price you pay for happy, organic chickens.
