Address: 64 King Edward Pde, Devonport
We came here because we had heard good things about the new site for the Navy Museum and its cafe.
Parking was hard to get close by - the small carpark was full and there are limited spaces on King Edward Pde, though we were lucky at the last minute when someone drove off.
We walked in and immediately thought the premises were shiny and new but somewhat lacking in character.
The most unusual thing on the menu was sadly not an issue. All standard options.
We ordered eggs benedict with bacon ($15.50) and the big veggie breakfast of eggs, mushrooms, tomato, spinach fritter, roast vegetables and toast ($18.50).
The food was nice enough but not exciting.
The service was average and the servers not particularly interested in their jobs.
The coffee was very good.
We recommend if you come here sit outside and enjoy the harbour views. The museum is apparently worth a look too.
Overall we thought more effort is needed if they want to compete with the central Devonport cafes.
