KEY POINTS:
Here at Viva we love these dainty Deutz piccolos, the looks of which have been created exclusively by fashion designers Cybele, Yvonne Bennetti and Kate Sylvester. The Deutz Designer Series, as it is officially known, celebrates 20 years of this multi award-winning methode traditionelle and its rich history, which began when the French House of Deutz Champagne chose vineyards in Marlborough to carry its name. The dainty piccolos are the perfect drink for summer and are available now in leading bars, restaurants and retail liquor outlets.
One for the Girls
A new range of wine on the market aimed specifically at women is Open House from Lion Breweries. Priced at a mere $14.99, it's being targeted at "fun-loving women who like unpretentious, relaxed Sex And The City style get-togethers". Sound like you? Look out at your nearest liquor store for the quirky labels featuring sexy red stilettos!
More Market
Fans of the City Farmers' Market will be delighted to know, as we are here at Viva, that starting from tonight it will be holding weekly Twilight Markets throughout summer. Every Wednesday, between 4.30-6.30pm, you can stop off behind the train station at Britomart and stock up on those mid-week supplies from the ever-growing collections of produce from local farmers, growers and makers. Think artisan breads, cheeses, smoked fish, salamis, olive oil, handmade pasta, pastries, vegetables, flowers and more. And, if you need more? The market is also open every Saturday morning form 8.30am-noon.
Chillin' With Gordon
The Gordon Ramsay we see on television is high-energy, high-maintenance, but according to the intro of this book, when he's cooking at home he likes to slow things down a bit and relax. Hence this superb new book, Cooking For Friends ($54.99, Harper Collins), which is all about relaxed entertaining, getting people involved in the cooking process and enjoying some great recipes. From grilled aubergines with balsamic, feta and mint cooked on the barbecue to chocolate swirl cheesecake, there's plenty to inspire here.
