Nicky Watson, above left, and Aja Rock were along to see a Young Generation show yesterday after Nicky this year kept her gear on when modelling for IPG. Scribe and crew didn't hang around after Dawn Raid showed its urban casual wear. Leaving mid-show may not be the done thing and nor is stepping on the ultra-white runway, but many of those left behind wished they'd joined the posse.
Viva Las Vegas
Word is VIP guest and fashion commentator Tim Blanks is straight off to Vegas after Fashion Week. Seems he has a birthday party to attend for Elton John's partner, David Furnish. Blanks holidays with the pair and apparently they're planning a safari for Christmas-New Year. And what present do you take for such an occasion? Nothing apparently, just joke items required.
Merry go-round
Matthew Ridge was happily sitting just a seat apart from his ex-wife's partner, Adam Parore, to support Sally's debut at Fashion Week. Ridge, who did a turn on the runway in swim trunks, was sizing up his female competition in the scanty briefs stakes during the james&august underwear show. Parore thought it was a really cool show and Ridge saved his biggest clap for daughter Jaime, who walked the runway with her mum.
Health hazard
Good thing yesterday was the last day. Those with short legs were beginning to worry about getting deep-vein thrombosis from the seats, obviously designed for wearers of 10cm stilettos. And that's so last year, flat knee-length boots were the footwear of choice for fashion editors.
A little autograph hunter called Greta with aspirations to be a designer was thrilled when Trelise Cooper told her to jot down her name and address and expect something in the mail. Cooper told the young girl her chosen career was lots of fun and to give her a call in a few years for a stint in the workroom.
Stars in her eyes
Followers of fashion were more than a little puzzled by the white-robed dancers who appeared before this week's Miranda Brown show. A new line for monks? Frocks for druids? No, it was perfectly clear to the designer herself. Her collection motif was stars and the seven represented the constellation Pleidaies. They also represent the logo of her sponsor, a car firm. Like the animal excess of Annah Stretton the day before, the moral is clear: keep the theme simple, obvious and related to the clothes. Queue Kate Sylvester with her use of a mounted stag's head as a backdrop to signal 1930s English country-house dressing, and Sabatini White with Neil Dawson's feather installation setting the scene for feather-light knits on a feather-strewn runway.
