Clarke Gayfordand his C4 crew popped into the Herald inkroom to film a little pampering in action. He stopped for a quick nail job from the OPI team, following in the footsteps of his co-presenter Jacquie Brown who earlier in the week had enjoyed a makeover courtesy of Napoleon cosmetics.
The corporate hospitality room is one of several where VIPs while away the time between shows and is proving a drawcard. Hugh Sundae tried a little hair straightening from the Servilles Ponsonby team.
Friend in need
VIP guest Emma Forrest has been phoning good friend Cliff Curtis between shows after his car accident this week. The two have been working on a script together. Forrest, an author and columnist, will be filing a report on Fashion Week for London's Telegraph and also New York's influential Black Book mag.
Seating shemozzles
Late shows, frayed tempers, big egos and seat squatters - it all makes the job of the ushers a nightmare. The nearly two-hour wait for Nom*D to start takes the cake; internationals liked the clothes but were distinctly unimpressed with the delay. Scribe managed to fill time on his cellphone.
At Trelise Cooper last night Susan Wood had - of course - a front row seat (along with Keisha Castle-Hughes and mum and Trelise devotee Kate Hawkesby and someone who turned up in a Roller), but things got awkward when Wood brought a young friend. It was all meant to be pre-arranged, but then VIP guest Tim Blanks turned up for his possie and urgent reshuffling was required.
Exit friend, but Wood and Blanks chatted happily - perhaps comparing viewing numbers. His fashion show is seen in 45 countries around the globe.
Telly ratings
The established telly types from TVNZ also seemed less than thrilled at Tuesday's Kate Sylvester, sitting a row behind behind nouveau stars like Charlotte Dawson, Hugh Sundae and Jeremy Wells, who stole a march on former head honcho Mikey Havoc. Haven't we seen more about Fashion Week on Breakfast and Tonight than Prime and co? C4 and its presenters, though, deserve their place in the sun. And it appears the channel is on to a winner with its nightly highlights package of each day. In the first two nights 120,000 viewers tuned into the music channel's coverage, meaning midway through the show C4's coverage has almost outrated the whole week as shown on Sky digital last year.
