Australian actress Greta Scacchi has spoken for the first time about her relationship with her first cousin, Carlo Mantegazza, the father of her 3-year-old son Matteo.
Scacchi's sexual relationship with her cousin was branded scandalous by the British tabloid press when it became public knowledge before Matteo's birth. "I was prejudiced about my favourite cousin," Scacchi, 41, told British newspaper the Daily Mail.
"For me there was this invisible wall. He was my best friend for 20 years. I never thought for a moment that I could even entertain those ideas.
"However much the Church, the tabloids in Britain, my family, however shocked they were, no one was as shocked as I was, no one was as scandalised as me."

Oasis are to release their first single for nearly two years in April. The track, The Hindu Times, was unveiled at 10th-anniversary gigs late last year and given another airing at the band's shows this month in Watford and at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
It is the first track taken from the band's as yet untitled fifth studio album, which is lined up for a July release. The band - now putting the final touches to the album - have not released any new singles since Sunday Morning Call in July 2000.

Harry Potter has soared to new heights to become the second-biggest box-office hit of all time, figures have shown.
The film has overtaken Star Wars movie The Phantom Menace after its takings hit £650 million ($2.3 billion). However, it still has a long way to go before sinking the top movie ever, Titanic, which has taken around twice that amount.
Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone, starring Daniel Radcliffe, was released in Britain in November and became an instant hit.
But it has largely been snubbed for movie award shortlists, with only the technical achievements recognised at the Oscars when nominees were unveiled last week.
