It's wise to be suspicious of self-help books which, despite their number, don't appear to have had the impact on society that their authors intended.
MacGregor, though, is one man we'd expect to be terribly sad, angry or bitter at the senseless slaying of his three daughters in 1987. That he reached a state of forgiveness and peace of mind is testament to his thinking about the nature of happiness.
There might be little novel here, but MacGregor packages topics such as meditation, resolving conflict and stress reduction into easy-to-understand sections.
He might have become another Mark Middleton, intent on retribution in its Old Testament sense, but clearly has found another way through the terrible event in his past.
