Getting kids out of bed and off to school is no easy feat. Perhaps amid packing lunches and stopping tantrums you've run out of time to get yourself dressed and wound up doing the school run in pyjamas?
Not good enough, says a head teacher who sent a desperate plea to pyjama-wearing parents asking them to "have a wash and get dressed".
Kate Chisholm, head of Skerne Park Academy in Darlington in the UK felt forced to take a stand after witnessing parents wearing slippers and dressing gowns at the school gates.
She said adults needed to be setting a better example for children, writing: "I have noticed there has been an increasing tendency for parents to escort children to and from school while still wearing their pyjamas and, on occasion, even slippers.
"Could I please ask that when you are escorting your children, you take the time to dress appropriately in daywear that is suitable for the weather conditions.
"We are trying to raise standards and get better outcomes for the children and we noticed a lot of the parents are turning up to school as well as meetings and assemblies wearing pyjamas, if we're to raise standards it's not too much to ask parents to have a wash and get dressed.
"If I get the parents on board then we often get the children too and in order to get the best chances for the children we have to raise the bar with the parents."
While she received a lot of support from the community there were also some negative reactions.
Not surprisingly she said the opposition came from the pyjama-wearers with one mother turning up in protest of the letter dressed in her sleepwear.
Father of four, Phil Naylor has three children at the school and told the Daily Mail: "We all support the school and I hope this helps get the message across to parents.
"It's disgraceful, we should be guiding our children not giving them bad habits."
