KEY POINTS:
Will 2009 see the end of celebrity "models" in fashion advertising? Maybe not, but here's hoping. The latest designer campaigns are slowly being released to the public, and so far only two celebrity models have caught our attention: Katie Holmes for Miu Miu and Madonna for Louis Vuitton (who looks hot by the way). Remember a year or two ago when every second fashion campaign featured a celeb, from Lindsay Lohan to Posh Spice.
This time around the supermodels of the 90s are the models of choice: Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Stephanie Seymour, Linda Evangelista and more.
Counter intelligence
Clinique has introduced a free skin analysis service at its counter at Life Pharmacy, St Lukes, with its first Clinique Diagnostic Mirrors in the country. These let trained consultants better see clients' skin conditions and advise appropriate skincare. Tracey Pederson, Clinique's national education manager, says sun is the main cause of damage. Other concerns are oiliness, dryness, enlarged pores, lines, discolouration and breakouts.
"Many skins are oilier in summer and drier in winter. At Clinique we will skin-type clients regularly to pick up on these changes and adjust our recommendation accordingly," she explains. To book a consultation call 09 846 5045.
Race day winner
Congratulations to Charlotte Moor, the supreme award winner at Viva Fashions in the Field on Boxing Day. The 19-year-old was awarded the big prize after also taking the under-25 category at the fashion competition, which was part of the New Zealand Herald Christmas Carnival at Ellerslie Racecourse. Moor's simple but chic matching white dress and hat combo was chosen as the winner by judges: Ellerslie ambassador Bridgette O'Sullivan, Cameron Brewer of the Newmarket Business Association, and Viva's fashion writer Zoe Walker.
