KEY POINTS:
Australian designer Kirrily Johnston is teaming up with Max to design a 10-piece capsule collection, called Kirrily Johnston Loves Maxshop. Johnston was the first non-New Zealand designer to show at New Zealand Fashion Week in September, and this move helps her further establish her brand here.
We've seen the range, and it's lovely: it's loosely based around kimonos, and features lots of Johnston's signature draping. We'll have lots more information closer to when it goes in Max stores in early March.
Stand out from the pack
If you're lucky enough to be travelling this summer, make sure you pick up the right suitcase at the carousel with MyBagTag. The MyBagTag packs
feature easy to spot polypropylene luggage labels printed with full-colour images, as well as a lost luggage card.
There are more than 80 designs to choose from, printed with everything
from shoes to flowers and the Eiffel Tower. Each pack features two luggage labels, and retails for $15.99. New Zealander Christina Hyde was inspired to launch the stylish product after a trip away when she realised how scrappy airport luggage labels are. MyBagTag is available online at www.mybagtag.co.nz, as well as Redcurrent stores nationwide and selected stationers and gift shops around the country.
Taylor's favourites
Taylor Boutique is giving you the chance to win big this month. Every $300 you spend in store in December will put you into the draw to win a prize pack of Taylor's favourite things, which includes everything from a dinner at the Grove restaurant to a facial at East Spa, or a food hamper from Rocket Kitchen to a pair of designer sunglasses. There are two massive prize packs up for grabs - one at the Newmarket boutique, and the other at the Ponsonby store. See in store for more details, and happy shopping!
Fashion capital
A new fashion boutique has opened in Wellington, stocking fantastic brands including Juliette Hogan, Yvonne Bennetti, Baby Ceylon from London and Velvet from Los Angeles. Harry's, owned by Liz Stringer, is inspired by international boutiques like Belinda in Sydney and Joseph's in London. Stringer says the store is about colourful and feminine fashion. Visit the store at 31 Dundas Street, Seatoun, Wellington.
Zippy does Chloe
She's been compared to Kate Moss, and already has Australian and French Vogue editorial shoots in her portfolio - and now local model Zippora Seven has added campaigns for H&M and See by Chloe. That's pretty impressive for a young girl from the North Shore. Seven, signed to 62 Models, controversially posed topless for Australian magazine Russh earlier this year - but the controversy doesn't seem to have done the teenager's career any harm, with campaigns for Australian brands Herringbone and Portmans following after that.
Return of the 80s
Check out the great new Levi's summer range, which features a modern take on the 80s and 90s favourites - acid wash and tie dye. The range includes acid wash slim cut shorts and skinny jeans for boys, and red skinny acid wash jeans, tie dye effect denim mini and cute tie dye denim cutoffs, perfect for summer festivals. The range is priced from $95 for shorts to $150 for jeans. Phone 0508 501 555 for stockists.
Apple of our eye
World's Denise L'Estrange Corbet and artist Billy Apple are teaming up to launch "Apple Collection". The double-branded artwork features limited edition 24 carat gold-plated apple buttons. Only 100 hand-numbered cards with six apple buttons will be available to buy from World stores on Friday, for $300.
M.A.C hits Queen St
M.A.C have opened their seventh New Zealand store inside iconic Auckland
department store Smith & Caughey's. The chic new store sits inside the department stores cosmetics department, and will stock all of M.A.C's makeup collections.
More than vintage
Ruby & Sol is one of our favourite shops - we could spend hours searching the Grey Lynn store for sweet vintage bits and pieces. Housed in an old villa, the eclectic store sells everything from vintage lace gloves to retro tables and cute secondhand pictures. But it's not all retro: store owner Sherry Roberts also imports a fantastic range from Denmark, called Karmameju. She is selling La Meju candles, $65, and pieces from the fantastic homewear collection, including a lace slip, full-length jumpsuit and an 80s-style knit blouse - perfect for lounging around the house. It's exclusive: Ruby Sol is the only store stocking the range here and in Australia. 62a Williamson Ave, Grey Lynn, ph (09) 378 0357.
