KEY POINTS:
They bear an unfortunate resemblance to those carpet protector thingies that careful home owners place on the bottoms of their chair legs. Still, some high-heel lovers may find this new product, Clean Heel Stoppers, useful at weddings, barbecues and at the races. Should there be danger of sinking into mud, sand or in those pesky holes in decking, you simply pop these on your heels and avoid ruining that pricey, precious footwear. They're available for $9.95 from www.shoethings.co.nz or ph 0800 226 969.
Life after Fixx
Fans of recently deceased local label Fixx will be celebrating this week as one half of the creative duo behind the label, Kylee Davis, resurrects her design ethos in the form of a new label and store, Stitch Ministry.
The premises, on the site of the old Fixx store in Onehunga, will include all kinds of interesting features to draw in both former fans and new. The store itself has an unusual church theme, with dressing rooms as confessional booths, lightbox art as stained-glass windows, and antique pews.
As well as Davis' first new collection of clothing, appropriately called Resurrection, there will also be an adjoining art gallery with a variety of works and what Stitch Ministry believes is a world first: a scent created especially for the collection.
The store opens on Friday at 42a Galway St, Onehunga.
