By MARGIE THOMSON
Wizards and all things magical are the rage at the moment, so what better time to remind us of some other wonderful writers in this genre, apart from the currently famous Rowling and Tolkein?
Haining has assembled a surprisingly wide range of authors here, and has worked to present a historical perspective on wizards themselves, and their representation in fiction.
E. Nesbit and Manly Wade Wellman make for an old-fashioned beginning, but Alan Garner is as exciting as ever. Other writers include Russell Hoban, Roald Dahl, Ray Bradbury, Philip Pullman and even Jacqueline Wilson.
