Aussie rockers INXS are on the lookout for a new lead singer - and it could be you.
Auditions to replace the late Michael Hutchence and his subsequent replacement Jon Stevens will be held in Auckland on March 1, as part of an American reality series coming to TV3 late next year.
Search For a Rock Superstar will travel to 20 cities worldwide, taking successful applicants back to Hollywood in May for the final round of auditions.
The 13-week series is produced by Survivor and The Apprentice creator Mark Burnett, and will screen in the US in July.
INXS guitarist Tim Farriss told the Sunday Telegraph, "We're going back to some of our favourite places where there was always a cesspool of talent, so who knows what we are going to find? It's going to be great fun. We're up for the ride and just want to get the whole thing started."
The competition is open to both sexes and contenders must be at least 21. Visit www.inxs.com for an application form.
Meanwhile, TVNZ is yet to reveal when auditions for the second series of NZ Idol will be held, but producers South Pacific Pictures said it would be later next year. Thousands turned out to audition for the show in January this year.
