This delightful picture book is about a girl who can never find her shoes. Every morning mama asks: "Sweet Pea, where are your shoes?" Her daughter always has a very imaginative excuse for why they are not where they should be.
According to Sweet Pea, ants, flying cats, birds and giraffes cannot resist borrowing her shoes. Luckily, her papa comes to the rescue and knows exactly where her shoes have been left. Then one morning her parents discover that truth can be stranger than fiction.
The bright, bold illustrations coupled with eye-catching lettering perfectly capture the madcap spirit of the story.
This title has a distinctive New Zealand flavour and first appeared in a Maori edition in 2002. This edition is a finalist in the New Zealand Post Book Awards, to be announced on May 13.
