It's always good to see kids enjoying eating a nutritious meal and they rarely turn their noses up at sushi. Just in time for some school holiday fun, Zoya Sahrawat is sharing her sushi-sesh with Dad Sid. I am sure the littlies' love of sushi has a lot to do with its manageable size but your teens might want to move with the times and take up the art of the sushi bowl. Both options encourage kids to think about their food, how it gets made and how to present it.
On the sweet side, Geoff Scott has been baking again (what is it with chefs and sweets?) and has made three rich winter cakes that will be as welcome with a cuppa during the day as they are after dinner, warm with cream or custard. Sultana and spiced apple cake is an old-fashioned classic, Walnut and rhubarb crumble cake is sure to be a favourite and there is no creaming involved in the apricot, prune and coconut cake so it's nice and quick for the cook.
Allyson Gofton is on her way back from France and says au revoir with a savoury potato straw cake and a Armagnac-drenched prune tart.
