Move away from that ridiculously good-looking taleggio cheese toastie, it's the humble apple that is our star attraction for the second week in a row. We are announcing the winner of our latest reader recipe competition, but there was nothing shy or unassuming about many of your Yummy Apple recipes, so I have decided to share more than just Rosie Bosworth's winning scones with you. Renuka Swaroop's curried apple soup, Vivienne Hill's caramel apple pie and Carmen Lo's twice-cooked pork belly also impressed. I hope you enjoy them as much as Ray McVinnie and I did when judging them and please be sure to enter our next competition because we can't wait to try more of what you, our nation of good cooks, have up your sleeve.
In our regular columns Peter Gordon cooks rabbit, Ray McVinnie makes winter salads, Warren Elwin is in the mood for nachos (may have something to do with all that sport on the tele at the moment), and Aaron Brunet makes a nutritious yellow and green soup.
And.... because I can't move myself away either, you may like to know that the toasted sandwich is as beautiful to eat as it is to look at... mmmm.
