162 Mokoia Rd, Birkenhead
We chose this place because we had previously had two wonderful evening meals here (the main focus of this restaurant) and were keen to try the brunch menu they operate from Friday to Sunday.
Parking was right outside in the carpark.
We walked in and immediately thought the theme of the restaurant and the background music were perfect for a leisurely brunch.
The most unusual thing on the menu was spicy Spanish beans with spinach on five-grain or flat bread with poached egg ($15.50).
We ordered a big breakfast of bacon, chorizo, mushrooms, eggs, grilled tomato, feta, mashed potato and flat bread, which came with a choice of mezze dip (in our case baba ghanoush), and vegetarian eggs benedict with spinach, potato, tomato, mushrooms, eggs and hollandaise, served with flat bread and a mezze dip (hummus). Both ($15.50 each) were generous, tasty and kept us satisfied until much later in the day. The service was great. Friendly and efficient.
The coffee was just right. We recommend if you come here sit outside if the weather permits and pretend you're on the terrace of a cafe in the Mediterranean. Otherwise drink up the atmosphere indoors.
Overall, we thought it was a fine choice and worth a return visit.
