By MICHELE HEWITSON
Peter Lime is a Danish paparazzo who lives in Madrid with his wife and daughter. He was once an idealist, a socialist who wanted to take great pictures that would explain the injustices of society. Now he is rich. He travels the world taking photos of people who do not want their photos taken, or at least not in the compromising situations Lime prefers to catch them in. He makes his living from "today's narcissism and insatiable appetite for gossip".
When he takes a picture of a politician cavorting with a young woman who is not his wife he thinks he'll be able to make a few bucks. But there are people who are upset with Lime, and not just because he has taken a sleazy picture. They are prepared to go to any lengths to stop the pictures being published.
As much a meditation on middle age, on what happened to youthful dreams of wanting to help to change the world, Lime's Photograph is occasionally preachy on the immorality of being paparazzo, but mostly it's a thrilling chase through several countries and states of mind.
