You know Fashion Week is looming when your favourite restaurant looks like a refuge for runaway racehorses.
You have to pick your way through long limbs that are impossible to contain beneath tiny cafe tables, and when you order a salad, you're told that the salad will be moment as they've run out of salad leaves and have had to order more.
This week's Fashion Week will be a bit different for me as I'm joining Trelise Cooper's team of workers on the Nail It with Love project. In a partnership with Habitat for Humanity and Air New Zealand Fashion Week, more than 250 designers, media and industry supporters will build a three-bedroom house over five days. The house will then be relocated to Mangere, where a family is ready to move in.
I'm not terribly practical, so thank heavens they have qualified tradespeople overseeing everything. It's a great idea, and good on Trelise for spearheading the project. It sounds like it's going to be just as much fun as sipping champagne between shows. Almost.
