By MICHELE HEWITSON
Another big fat forensic thriller from the very polished Kathy Reichs.
Fatal Voyage is her fourth featuring forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan. Called in to sift through the evidence of a plane crash in the mountains of North Carolina, Brennan finds a severed foot, which seems to have no connection to any of the crash victims.
She's taken off the case, accused of professional misconduct, when she starts poking around an apparently abandoned house deep in the woods.
She wants to know why people are going missing - and why the authorities don't seem to consider the disappearances worth investigating.
Brennan is a character who, despite the cliches (reformed boozer, toughing it out in a bloke's world, loves animals), is contrary enough to be interesting.
