By MARGIE THOMSON
This latest edition of the venerable literary magazine contains the winners and finalists of the third Landfall essay competition. It was won by Patrick Evans with a rumination on the late Allen Curnow titled A very emotional person as well; and Kapka Kassabova, whose We too are Europe, an account of a trip back to her native Bulgaria, moves back and forth in time arousing "the sort of imaginative responses most commonly touched off by poetry or fiction", as judge Margaret Mahy reports. Other finalists were Lloyd Jones, Dennis McEldowney, Jack Ross, Lawrence Jones and Denis Welch, and their entries are included here, along with contributions (on every page) by Richard Killeen and much more.
