A little mouse takes a stroll through the woods and meets a number of animals, all of whom are keen to turn him into lunch.
The mouse, however, claims to be meeting up with the fearsome gruffalo and just the thought of this monster makes the animals quietly disappear and the mouse walks smugly on — until he rounds a bend in the path and meets... a gruffalo.
Every bit as terrible as the mouse imagined, the gruffalo also has plans to enjoy a rodent lunch, but the mouse says "I'm the scariest creature in the wood." And to prove it he tells the gruffalo to follow him.
Sure enough, every animal they meet takes one look at the pair and runs for cover.
