By MARGIE THOMSON
Very nice little collection. Daley put it together to counteract the gloom engendered by the brain drain. He felt we needed reminding of all that is great about our lives in this far-flung habitat, although if you are not convinced by horrors such as the Australian drought and salinity crisis, the Bali bombing and international terror that we are pretty lucky down here, maybe nothing will change your mind.
There is an enormous range of people quoted here, most of them well known, and covering more than a century of writing, and the chosen quotes have dignity, intelligence and genuine interest.
Charming.
