By MICHELE HEWITSON
In the summer of 1976 a group of friends gather at an old house called Grays Orchard. One of its owners is the artist Gus Ridley whose paintings of these hot dreamy days are rare and sought after.
On the day of the local country fair, one of the friends is murdered. The killer is never found. Everyone except Gus leaves the house and they vanish from each other's lives.
Twenty years on Gus Ridley's niece Jenny arrives. The man who was killed was her father and she has questions Gus is not prepared to answer. Jenny disappears when her search leads her to a loopy cult, the Heirs of Akasha. Gus' wife Carol in turn searches for Jenny and for answers which might tell her what her husband won't about that terrible day.
The cult stuff is superb, and I think it's even supposed to be funny.
