The publication in late April of the fifth book in Auel's The Earth's Children series, The Shelters of Stone, will be a major publishing event, and as part of the lead-up, the publisher is re-releasing the first four books in the series, which have together sold more than 34 million copies since 1980: The Clan of the Cave Bear, The Valley of Horses, The Mammoth Hunters and The Plains of Passage.
