We came here because it was time for a mother and daughter catch-up.
Parking was easy, because Gana is in Papamoa's newest strip mall and is completely surrounded by carparks.
We walked in and immediately thought the decor was not looking quite as shiny as when the shopping centre first opened, but the menu looked as delicious as ever.
The most unusual thing on the menu was the Gana funghi ($14.50), which is really just a colourful way of saying mushrooms on toast.
We ordered bacon and eggs ($11), which were fine without being fabulous, and the vegetarian extreme breakfast with poached eggs ($17). The vegetarian breakfast really was extreme, at least in size. Other diners watched from neighbouring tables to see whether we could finish it (we almost did). The roast mushrooms were rich and delicious, the eggs good and the tomatoes fine. The only thing that let it down were the under-cooked herbed potatoes.
The coffee was good.
The service was pleasant and helpful.
We recommend if you come here you sit on the outdoor tables at the front, if the weather allows, and enjoy the Bay of Plenty sunshine.
Overall we thought it was a nice addition to the area.
