KEY POINTS:
Fashion makes sweet music for Sky host
Some would say Anna Fitzpatrick's job presenting New Zealand's only fashion specialist television show must be pretty glamorous. But in fact she is already well versed in the industry. As she says, she's been modelling successfully for about seven years and already knows "the ins and outs of the industry".
Fitzpatrick is particularly proud that her show The Seen, a mix of music videos and fashion events screened on Thursdays at 8pm on Channel 65 Sky digital, is becoming a credible source of fashion information.
Best of all? "Karen Walker dresses me for the show, so every week I get to go in there and choose something great to wear. Lucky me."
Who are your favourite designers?
In New Zealand, Karen Walker.
What was the last item of clothing you bought?
My mum and I recently went to LA and I found the most beautiful dress at Fred Segal's to wear to my 21st.
What's your biggest indulgence?
TV. Home and Away, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Lost. I forked out the $500 to get My Sky so I could record it all.
What's the one thing everyone should have in their wardrobe?
A great pair of high-heeled boots as well as an everyday flat. My faves are my black Marc Jacobs heels and my Miu Miu tan flats.
What endures throughout the seasons?
A cardigan. I've had my plain black Calvin Klein one for years.
What do you really want this winter?
A trip to Queenstown and new snow gear to go with it.
Your favourite shop elsewhere?
I love the department stores in America, especially Neiman Marcus.
What can't you live without?
Because I have alopecia I have no hair on my body so I definitely couldn't live without my wigs from Freedom Hair or my M.A.C liquid liner.
Is there anything you'd never wear?
Those terrible shot fabrics that change colour in different light.
What won't you be wearing this season?
Gladiator shoes.
What is the biggest beauty mistake you've made?
The wigs I had when I was 12 were hideous. The only way I can describe them is "poofy messes". Ew.
A fashion police ban?
Crocs, please.
You feel best wearing?
A short dress and heels. Show off those legs, I say.
Most cherished item?
My jewellery. I am a very lucky girl and have accumulated lots over the years. My favourite is my gold and silver Cartier watch from my mum.
Dress to impress whom?
Yourself.
