Irish author Eoin Colfer is best known for his Artemis Fowl series of books but this latest title is aimed at younger readers. It is the hilarious tale of Mrs "Spud" Murphy, the most fearsome librarian to ever stamp a book in a public library.
Spud Murphy "rules" the library with an iron fist and two boys are convinced that they will very quickly become target practice for her legendary gas-powered spud gun.
The madcap humour in this book, together with the zany illustrations by Tony Ross, will make this book appealing to boys in particular. Young Roald Dahl fans are also sure to enjoy it.
