Maybe he heard it was New Zealand music month. For among the album which Donny Osmond has subtitled Classic Love Songs, he has included his rendition of Neil Finn's Don't Dream It's Over.
That it sounds like the song has been kidnapped and held hostage in a Florida resthome, and only brought out on karaoke and bingo nights, is briefly amusing.
But that's not the only decent tune getting Donny-ised. Among them are 10CC's I'm Not In Love, Stevie Wonder's I Wish and Hall and Oates' I Can't Go For That, all delivered in insipid elevator-friendly versions. But down the end is a bonus for true fans — he's attempted an update on the Osmonds' rockingest moment Crazy Horses and a lounge crooning take on Puppy Love which is as tragic as it sounds.
