Actress Mandy Moore says she is not among those who criticise American Idol contestants for wanting instant stardom.

Moore, 22, plays a singer with diva-like aspirations in the movie American Dreamz, which also stars Dennis Quaid, Willem Dafoe and Hugh Grant, whose character hosts an American Idol-type TV talent show.

Meanwhile, real American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, 31, says he and judge Paula Abdul are not speaking to one another. But former pop star Abdul, 43, said: "Reports of a feud are ridiculous. We are one funny dysfunctional family. There's nothing but love."

Earlier, on "The Tonight Show", Abdul shot down rumours that Seacrest was dating Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher. "He only kisses the mirror. Anyway, do you think Teri Hatcher is that desperate a housewife?"
