We came here because we'd been for tapas at the Jervois Rd location and loved it, so figured we were in for a sure thing.
Parking was in metered spots, just outside.
We walked in and immediately thought even though it's part of a wine shop, the narrow restaurant space looks inviting, with its Spanish-style decor and attached deli filled with local and imported deliciousness.
The most unusual thing on the menu was field mushrooms in chardonnay cream on toasted polenta bread with salsa verde.
We ordered ricotta cakes with berries, sweetened yoghurt and apple syrup ($13.50). They were tasty but too dense. And the Spanish scrambled eggs with chorizo, olives roasted peppers, feta and shallots on grilled ciabatta ($14.50) unfortunately came with a lot of excess liquid.
The coffee was prompt, the long black nice and long without losing its strength.
The service was quick and efficient to start with but the food was slow in coming.
We recommend if you come here make it a champagne brunch - you can choose any wine from the attached Glengarry store to have with your meal (with a service charge).
Overall we thought we really like the European-style ambience and menu, and the quality of ingredients, so this place should rate higher. But the cooking needs to be more skilful.
