We came here because we'd heard the previous incarnation, WKA, had had a makeover, and thought we should check it out.
Parking was easy, just outside. Unlike the day before, the suburb's Spring Carnival, when it was a nightmare.
We walked in and immediately thought a makeover? Really? It looked pretty much as we remembered it. Even the garden seemed little different.
The most unusual thing on the menu was lambs fry and bacon ($14.50), a highly prized meal in Bill's opinion. Kidneys and bacon were also available, though less desirable.
We ordered the lambs fry, which came with lots of saucy gravy and toast. It disappeared rapidly, but there wasn't a fight over it. David's corn and feta fritters ($12.50) looked messy but tasted fine, he said. Christine's scramblers and country potatoes ($9.50) were reportedly excellent, but the potatoes had morphed into hash browns. My bacon and eggs and potatoes (ditto) at $12.50 were fine, and the little boys' servings of bacon and eggs were commendably small, as requested.
The service was friendly and obliging but woefully slow. Danielle's big breakfast ($16.50) arrived after the rest of us had finished.
The coffee was hot, strong and prompt. Christine's long black came with a jug of hot water, something she says doesn't always happen.
We recommend if you come here come with a small group, so as not to strain the service department.
Overall we thought it's a decent enough neighbourhood cafe, and the garden is sheltered and pretty. More staff at the weekend would be welcome.
