We came here because we had heard of this place a couple of times and thought it needed a visit.
Parking was no problem as Browns Bay has plenty of street parking. We walked in and immediately thought the decor was great, with all the Turkish ornaments.
The most unusual thing on the menu didn't exist. There was nothing particularly stand-out as we might have expected from a Middle Eastern-themed cafe. But the card on the table with a list of Turkish words was a nice touch.
We ordered the classic eggs benedict with bacon and spinach, which came with hollandaise sauce and was served on a toasted bagel ($17), and creamy mushrooms and bacon on panfried crispy potato hash, topped with grated cheese ($17). My eggs were "lezzet li" or delicious, as the card informed us and Leanne said the mushrooms were very creamy, just what she would hope for.
The service was friendly.
The coffee was good, but on the small side. We each had to have a second.
We recommend if you come here you take a look at the Turkish art-works and jewellery on display and for sale.
Overall we thought Cafe Sofra was a nice place for a brunch, but the theme could be carried across to the menu a bit more.
