Fusion, 32 Jervois Rd, Herne Bay
4/5
KEY POINTS:
We chose this place because we'd never been here before and it seems to have been around for ages.
Parking was down a side street as cars were head to tail in front.
We walked in and immediately thought what an odd, bitsy place. Sort of post-hippie, eclectic - you know, fusion.
The most unusual thing on the menu wasn't. It is a concise brunch menu but there is the option of branching into the lunch menu.
We ordered mushrooms with thyme and garlic on focaccia ($13.50) with a side order of bacon ($4) for me and the delicious juices soaked divinely into the bread. The aged aunt said her pumpkin and feta risotto ($13.50) was just the right cheesey creaminess.
The service was a little dreamy, in a amiable way, at the counter where you order and pay before eating. Peace, man.
The coffee was well worth our seconds.
We recommend if you come here hunker down and relax. You can choose from pavement tables, garden tables or inside with a super-heating exposed-brick fireplace.
Overall we thought it was a charmingly different venue. The back of the chimney-breast where we sat was adorned with a plastic hula skirt and the door to the toilets was counter-weighted on the side of another flier-decked chimney by two wooden toy trains which regularly ran up and down the wall.
